Riveredge Hospital recently hosted a free Resource Fair Thursday, September 24, welcoming social service agencies, treatment providers and community partners. The Resource Fair featured more than 50 booths with health care professionals and human service providers offering information on a variety of topics. Representatives from DCFS, Mercy Home for Girls and Boys, the Cook County Department of Public Health, Mt. Sinai, Gateway Foundation, Alternative Schools Network and others joined Riveredge Hospital staff and Dorothy Brown, Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County at the event.

Walking for mental health awareness

Outside of Riveredge Hospital on Friday, about 50 employees gathered to commemorate their participation in a weekend fundraiser for the National Alliance on Mental Illness. On Sunday, the Riveredge employees walked 3 miles along Chicago's lakefront with other advocates for mental health. Among them was Carey Carlock, chief executive officer of Riveredge.

Riveredge Hospital Takes Steps to Advocate on Behalf of the Mentally Ill
Hospital enlists the help of more than 50 employees to help improve the lives of persons affected by mental illness

Chicago, IL - Riveredge Hospital joins the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and its efforts to help improve the lives of persons affected by serious mental illness by supporting its 4th annual NAMIWalks Chicago 2009. Riveredge, a Silver Sponsor of NAMIWalks Chicago, will also participate in the event with more than 50 Riveredge administrators and employees walking to raise funds for important mental health services as well as spread awareness to help stop the stigma associated with mental illness.

Riveredge recognizes the importance of community involvement to promote healing and destigmatization of persons living with a mental illness. We value all of our partners including law enforcement, social service providers, community members, healthcare providers and SASS.

Forest Park Police Dept

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month in May, Riveredge hosted, “Reflections of Wellness.” It was a day devoted to overall wellness including self-care and stress management. In addition to resource booths, raffles, chair massages and networking opportunities, we hosted two presentations These were Dance Movement Therapy and The use of Medicine for Treating Mental Illness. The interactive lunch honored our local police department who are our valued partners. While it was our local Police Department honored with a plaque, it was also commemorative of all our police partnerships including those from Berwyn, Chicago, Bellwood, Oak Park and Cicero.

Anti-Drug Poster Contest

Riveredge was the sponsor for the Cook County State’s Attorney annual Anti-Drug Poster Contest. The event showcased the artwork of several students from Chicago schools. Pictured with the winning artwork are Riveredge CEO, Carey Carlock and State’s Attorney, Anita Alvarez.

This year the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council hosted a luncheon honoring nurses. Niagara Foundation Intercultural Reception

The Niagara Foundation, who is committed to promoting Global Fellowship, hosted an Intercultural Reception in Springfield this June. It was our honor to partner with this organization in their mission of tolerance and peace amongst communities.
